This week, Youth Beat heads into the heart of Columbus to learn more about what all goes on between the skyscrapers. Positively Charged features youth from the Academy of Urban Scholars and Juvenile Justice Coalition who are working to stop community violence in Columbus and planning a memorial in honor of the young people lost to violence. We also meet a local artist who uses his incredible talent as a platform to inspire others and Ohio State student who finds environmental opportunities, even in the city. No matter how long you've lived in Columbus, there's still more to learn: so stay tuned!

This is the third episode of Youth Beat Radio's Rural Series. This series highlights rural life and culture as presented by the voices of the students, many of whom have grown up in rural communities in Ohio and beyond. Seven students in Dr. Kristi Lekies' Rural Sociology 1500 class at the Ohio State University have produced segments on the challenges youth in rural America face, and what some organizations are doing about it.

What is Social Lawn Art? We feature a special project by the OSU class Population, Place, and Environment and artist Jacklyn Brickman held recently on the OSU campus. Social Lawn Art (http//u.osu.edu/sociallawnart) is an innovative way to explore interrelationships between people, communities, and ecosystems through art. Finally we connect to the wonderful world of birds and what the OSU Ornithology club is doing to promote appreciation of the many birds in Central Ohio and beyond.
