Valentine Concert:
love songs, candlelight, laughs, and tears
In a hall bathed with the glow from dozens of candles, I’ll strum my
guitar, play the piano, and sing all kinds of love songs. Songs about the
joy and ecstasy of love. And songs about the pain and heartache of love.
Most of the songs will be familiar tunes, songs made famous by a wide variety
of folks like John Denver, Bette Midler, Bob Dylan, Roberta Flack, Dan
Fogelberg, Sam Cooke, the Beatles, the Eagles, Nat King Cole, James Taylor,
and Tom Waits.
Beautiful flute music, played by Ann Fisher, and soothing violin music,
played by Sandy Jones, will add to the romantic atmosphere on many of the
songs.
We’ll also have some fun with trivia questions about famous and infamous
couples….and about love songs themselves.
Plus, we’ll serve up some refreshments, wise sayings about love, and a
couple of fun surprises. You could even win a door prize!
We’re asking for $10 per-person donations at the door for a great cause:
this May’s annual Central Ohio Folk Music Festival.
WHEN: Saturday Feb 8, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The Southside Shall Rise Again! January 20, 2014
28:09 minutes (45.64 MB)
Join us this week as Youth Beat Radio travels to the Southside neighborhood of Columbus. Need something to do? Hear about the many activities of the Barack Community Center, part of the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department. The show highlights the APPS program (Applications for Purpose, Pride, and Success), a unique program for youth ages 14-21 started by Mayor Michael B. Coleman with the goal of teaching life skills and reducing community violence. We also feature interviews with Cheyenne Rozelle, playwright and director of the musical stage play “The Southside Shall Rise Again” and cast members. The play was recently held at Barack Recreation Center. This show is not only informational, but encouraging because it ignites unity and pride in a community! Stay tuned for more activities from this part of Columbus.
